Since January 1st, 2017, the Ontario Building Code has made every newly built home in Ontario required to have an HRV or ERV system installed. This is important because it shows how tightly sealed our homes are, which accumulates stale air.

Will It Work In Any Kind Of Home?
The Platinum ERV works with all central air heating/cooling systems, provided that your home has adequate space available to bring in fresh air.
There Is A Smoker In My Home, Will The Platinum ERV Help Protect My Family?
The Platinum ERV can help with this, but it is not designed for it. The main purpose of the Platinum ERV is to rotate fresh air inside, and stale air outside in a high efficiency manor while maintaining humidity levels. If you have issues with pollution such as smoking, dust, pet dander, and similar; combine the Platinum ERV with our Platinum TrueHEPA and Platinum PCO for excellent results.
Will It Affect The Performance Of My Air Distribution System?
No, the Platinum ERV is self-powered and is installed in the HVAC system in a by-pass configuration.
I Have An Older Home, Do I Still Need This?
Most older homes have had multiple renovations over the years; such as finishing a basement, getting a new roof, or replacing your old windows. All of these things can make your home more air tight, which is why Platinum Air Care recommends installing an ERV ventilation system.
Does It Have To Run Continuously To Keep The Air Fresh?
In short: No. The most popular setting is the 20/40 run mode, meaning for every 60 minutes (1 hour), your Platinum ERV system and other air exchangers such as HRV units will run for 20 minutes at a time. The Platinum ERV does have settings for longer run times and timer options as well - allowing it to meet every family's individual needs.
How Much Maintenance Is Needed?
We recommend every year to check-up to vacuum out the filter. However, homes without any type of air filtration may be advised to check and clean more frequently (such as two or three times a year) to make sure air flow is efficient.
Platinum Air Care's certified technicians also have options to include ERV/HRV check-ups and inspections with their service work - Ensuring your equipment is working as needed when needed.
